The First Dystopian Legions Painting Competition

dystopianlegions1
Helllo everyone,

First off I want to introduce myself, my name is Lorenzo Salden, also known as Projectmanhatten5 on the Spartan Games Community and today I’m proud to announce the first Dystopian Legions painting competition! Together with Spartan Games and Giles, we have set up this competition and we are looking forward to a lot of painted forces from you guys. The competition already started and you are now allowed to send in pictures from your Dystopian Legions force. Pictures can be send to me via my mail (lorenzosalden@gmail.com) or via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/lorenzo.salden) with the subject: Dystopian Legions Painting Competition. You can send in pictures until 1 December 2015.

After that the pictures will be uploaded and people can vote on the force they like the most. The voting will end on 31 December 2015 and the winner will be announced before the 10th of January and the prize will be send to the winner that same day. The prize is a 15 pound gift certificate for the Spartan Games Online store with an expiration date of 31 January 2016. The start of the voting will be announced on the Community and on the Element270 Facebook page.

The rule summary:
*Your painted force must at least contain 1 painted officer and 1 painted Line Section, you are allowed to add more sections to a maximum of 1 full platoon diagram (diagram can be found here: http://www.spartanga…oon-Diagram.pdf),Judging will be done on the quality of the painted miniatures, not the quantity of the miniatures.
*Pictures can be send to me until 1 December with a maximum of 5 pictures per person.
*You don’t have to start painting a new force, if you already have a painted force you can use them.
*There is no max size for the pictures but keep it normal (I don’t want poster size pictures :P)
*You force can posse in a background, scenery etc, but keep in mind that the voting is about the painting quality not the diorama you make with it.
*Composite pictures are allowed but with the following notification: you can send in 1-2 picture that is composite of your full force with some close ups, I allow it but don’t send in 5 pictures with 5 close ups each because that gives you more pictures in total and it won’t make it much easier for the voting.

If there are any questions about the competition don’t hesitate to ask them via a mail, Facebook, PM on the Community, post on the Community or as a reaction down below. The link to the community post is here for people who wane view that. Have fun painting everyone and I’m looking forward to see all your amazing forces.

Kind Regards,
Lorenzo

New ORBATs for Dystopian Wars and Dystopian Legions

DystopianLegions DystopianWars

New ORBATs have been posted for both Dystopian Wars and Dystopian Legions.

In the Dystopian Wars ORBATs there have been a bunch of minor tweaks, as well as stats added for the Bombardment Groups – well worth checking out!

In Dystopian Legions there have been many changes throughout the armies, as well as the addition of fuller French and Covenant forces.
Both new sets of ORBATs can be found in the downloads section of the Spartan Games website: http://www.spartangames.co.uk/resources/downloads

Dystopian Legions PDFs Online!

dystopian-legions-select

The rules for Dystopian Legions are now available online as a free download.  I’ve said it before, and I am biased, but I love the fact that Spartan have made available their Firestorm Armada, Dystopian Wars, Planetfall and now Dystopian Legions rules – for free!

Alongside the Legions rules there are a host of other PDFs available for download, that are extremely handy as well.

The Platoon Diagram – is the structure around which armies are built.

The Progression Charts are available to print off – which is handy if you are in the mood for a campaign and want to see your army develop and grow through the Progression rules in the Legions book.

The Reference Sheet contains a bunch of handy charts and reminders for reference in play.

The Sequence of Play is similarly useful, whether you are learning the game or are an experienced hand.

The Templates are always useful!

The Terrain tables – print them back-to-back and they make a very easy to reference chart giving you all the rules and information required for the terrain on the table.

DLRB01-2

Fantastic stuff!

The website lists the Scenario Generator PDF as coming soon – which will be another handy reference, and I know the updated ORBATs and FAQ are coming at some point soon.

It’s great to see so much support now available for Legions, on the back of the new releases announced, it’s looking like this game is ready to enter a whole new lease of life!

Nation Books for Dystopian Wars

DystopianWars DystopianLegions

In Episode 23 of the Element 270 podcast Neil mentioned that Spartan Games will be producing 10 PDFs, 7 for the Core Nations, and 1 each for the Grand Coalition Allies, Imperial Bond Allies and Mercenaries.  He also said that as the Allied Nations grow in stature, they may well be spun out into their own booklets.

In each book you can expect to find rules, fluff, art, and the stats for all the Dystopian Wars models.  Neil was interested in hearing from customers about whether they would like to also see the Dystopian Legions stats in those booklets alongside the Dystopian Wars ones…

So… what do you think?
