Created in the hidden forges of the Yani using their own mix of alchemy and technology, the plans for the massive Ayakashi Dreadnought Battle Robot were presented to the Empress at the end of 1871 and rushed into production.
In my latest unboxing video, I crack open one of the latest Dystopian Wars box sets – the Ayakashi Dreadnought Battle Robot. Hope you enjoy the video and stay tuned towards the end for the outtakes.
Reese put together the idea of the Painting Challenge, and naturally if we were asking people to throw their hat into the ring, we would need to step up and do the same. So without hesitation, here is the first part of my challenge…
These are the first part of my painting challenge. The Empire of the Blazing Sun naval models from the Shadow Hunters boxed set, and one of the older land boxes.
I made a rookie error with these, I used an untested (by me) primer. I discovered, much to my displeasure later that night, that my acrylic paints weren’t taking to the models at all. Bugger! I resprayed with an Army Painter Matte Varnish in the hope this would give something for the paint to grip. Thankfully it did the trick wonderfully, and I had no problems thenceforth.
The first leg of the painting challenge was the smalls – I was going with a relatively simple scheme.
Very happy to have the smalls done, that’s one step in the right direction! The scheme is simple, but I think, after a shaky start, that they’ve come up ok.
Now – onto the Cruisers…
A little more work done on the Samurai for the Empire of the Blazing Sun over the weekend.
First, the jetpacks were completed and then washed.
Then I turned my attention to the Samurai. I decided to paint them in similar colours to the rest of my EOTBS army but with more bronze armour, denoting their elite status. I also gave them Blood Red masks – how terrifying would it be for an armoured, red skull face guy with a jet pack and swords to drop out of the sky!
All that needs to be done now is to give the Samurai a wash, complete their bases and do the final assembly. I’ll post the completed pictures, later this week.
Till then – watch out for those exploding 6’s.
Here is tonight’s work on the Rocket Corps.
The jet pack wings were painted with a flat red and white – the red being painted in the recess.
The Samurai pants were done in Bubonic Brown from GW.
Next step is to paint the other side of the wings identical to this side and continue on with the Samurai.
Till next time – watch out for those exploding 6’s.
For those of you who saw my unboxing video; I’ve now prepared and am beginning to paint the Empire of the Blazing Sun Rocket Corps section.
I won’t lie – the parts are super-fiddly and there was much swearing when the glued failed to hold.
Here are the wings of the models – spray painted white with P3 Brass Balls on the edging.
For the four Samurai I’ve started with GW Khemri Brown for the boots.
Check out my future blog posts as the more paint goes on. Till then – Watch out for those Exploding 6’s.
Samurai with jetpacks – yes Jetpacks! The Empire of the Blazing Sun forces welcome a new Veteran Support unit in the shape of the Rocket Corps.
Please enjoy my real-time unboxing of one of the latest units for Dystopian Legions.
